meet the artist - Janet Decker Yanez

artist / wife / mother

Once an artist, always an artist. Over the last several years my focus has been on home and motherhood; two children and several moves in the past 4 years is the obvious reason. During that time, I managed to start a couple of series on the subject of motherhood and infertility. The work I produce is very personal because it's my way of processing through life with what I have at my disposal, documenting visually my human experience: pain, sorrow and loss, along with joy, triumph, and mind-boggling miracles.

I've been creating things since I was a child and have continued to make art since graduating college with a painting degree. Now that life is settling down some – no address changes or additions to the family – I'm looking forward to continued growth and development as an artist.
